The 6 Best Natural Skin Care Brands in the UK In 2024

When it comes to my skin care routine, you could say I’ve been on a journey. Nowadays I do a lot to keep my skin hydrated, but last year it took a turn for the worst. It was partly due to my then lazy skincare routine but also the fact I was using products with lots of chemical.

Once I discovered natural skin care brands in the UK, and got myself a consistent routine, everything changed.

Admittedly it’s taken me longer than it should have to make the switch, mainly because there’s so many brands and I struggled knowing where to start.

The reality is there are so many things to consider when it comes to natural skin care brands, from animal testing to packaging to ingredients.

Nevertheless, having read so much about the harmful chemicals and toxins in skin care products, I’ve been absolutely determined find the best British natural skincare brands who prioritise natural ingredients – particularly products that work hard to nourish and help my skin.

This is what my natural skin care regime looks like today, and these are my favourite natural skin care brands from the UK.

The best UK natural skin care products

Since starting my hunt for natural skin care brands here in the UK, I’ve found so many alternative brands that are actively championing sustainable, ethical production and using natural ingredients.

Although some tend to be a little more expensive than your average product, it’s obvious why.

These products are made with wholesome ingredients, with quality and genuine care in mind; they’re nourishing and effective. Visualising the questionable products in my bathroom, I started slowly replacing products and finding which work best for my often-temperamental skin.

I’ve also started using these natural products when I travel.

And honestly, these natural products have made a massive difference. My skin just looks so much brighter, smoother, and glowy - even after three months in Europe, including an especially hot few weeks in Spain followed by freezing winter temps in France. Safe to say, my skin has put been through A LOT!

Luckily, some of the brands listed below offer mini versions of their bigger products, though I usually move some of my chosen product into a travel pot (like this one).

So, whilst finding really good moisturisers and serums is never fun, I’ve found brilliant products and brands that actually work. So today I’m sharing the natural brands I’m enjoying and have either been using regularly or I’m lusting after, in the hope it takes away pain of trialling new skincare products.

Switching to clean, natural skin care products has not only made my daily routine more sustainable, it’s made my skin look so much better for it.

So, here are my top recommendations for natural skin care brands created here in the UK.

1. Evolve Organic Beauty

I’m a big fan of handmade products made in fresh, small batches which is why I love British brand Evolve Organic Beauty. Crafted in a studio in Hertfordshire, this brand is much loved for its award winning creams, toners, serum, and oils.

Founder Laura Rudoe believes in using organic ingredients from as close to home as possible, and from sustainable, fair trade sources.

Best of all? With reusable packaging, biodegradable ingredients, cruelty free and completely vegan, Evolve Beauty offers ethically made products that are perfect for your natural skin care routine.

My top Evolve picks:

  • My everyday essentials are the SPF-30 and Daily Renewal Face Cream.

  • Plus, the Hyaluronic Eye Complex for tired eyes.

  • At night, the Gentle Cleansing Melt is perfect for removing make up and any dirt that’s built up through the day!

  • When my skin needs extra TLC, the Hyaluronic Acid Serum is a must.

  • And for a special treat at the weekend, my favourite Evolve product is the Radiant Glow Face Mask. It makes your skin look so glowy and bright.

2. Ren Clean Skincare

Clean to skin, clean to planet is Ren’s philosophy and it shows in their sustainably created, clean and effective skin formulas. This green British brand has a fantastic product range, made from mineral based and toxin-free ingredients designed to protect and repair skin.  Plus, the clean ingredients are always cruelty-free.

There’s also a focus on being environmentally conscious with bottles made with ocean and recycled plastics.

My top Ren picks:

  • The Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream and Evercalm Overnight Recovery Balm work perfectly together - I highly rate them as part of your everyday skin routine.

  • When my skin needs an extra boost, the Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask is gentle yet exfoliating and really brightens skin.

  • On my wish list right now? The Ready Steady Glow AHA Tonic. Gentle yet powerful, its energising formula helps smooth skin texture and evens out skin tone. Plus, it gets rave reviews.

3. Upcircle

Last year I became totally hooked on British skin care brand, UpCircle. Founded by siblings Will and Anna, they are committed to natural ingredients, waste-free refillable products, and recycled packaging.

The brand offers a range of award-winning products - serums, moisturisers, shampoos - all of which are vegan, 100% cruelty free, and B-Corp certified.

My top UpCircle picks:

  • The Cleansing Face Balm from UpCircle is genuinely excellent. Creamy, light, and lovely, it washes away the most stubborn of make up.

  • I also love the Herbal Face Scrub - sometimes scrubs really irritate my skin, but not this one. Plus, it smells amazing!

  • I’m also loving Organic Muslin Cloths and the Organic Cotton Buds. Both staples have a permanent spot in my bathroom.

4. Neal’s Yard Remedies

Neal’s Yard Remedies was the UK’s first certified organic health and beauty brand, and the company is as committed to protecting the world’s environment and biodiversity today as it was back in 1981. The brand’s products are cruelty free, organic, and made from sustainably sourced ingredients - made in small, perfectly fresh batches in their Dorset based ‘eco-factory’.

Plus, they actively campaign for environmental causes, from the ban on microbeads to saving endangered forests.

My top Neal’s Yard picks:

  • As scrubs go, the Honey & Orange Facial Scrub from Neal’s Yard smells heavenly and lightly exfoliates your skin till it shines.

  • The White Tea Face Mask is a real treat that leaves your skin super fresh and glowy. And again, smells wonderful.

  • On my wish list are the Rejuvenating Frankincense Toner and Frankincense Nourishing Cream - I’ve heard incredibly things about both.

5. Liz Earle

Liz Earle started back in 1995 as a British brand dedicated to cruelty free health and vegetarian friendly beauty, and the brand continues to pioneer the way today. With award-winning formulas that are natural, organic, and ethically made (and never tested on animals), Liz Earle’s expansive product line includes natural skin care, body care, serums, and hair care.

My top Liz Earle picks:

  • The Hot Cloth Cleanser is an icon and skincare staple for a reason. The cleanser & cloth duo remove impurities, daily dirt, make up, and even the most stubborn mascara. I’ve been using this for years and ALWAYS have a tube in my skincare bag.

  • I also highly recommend the Skin Repair Light Day Cream. Very light, it gives just enough moisture.

  • When I feel like my skin is dry and needs more moisture, the Instant Boost Skin Tonic works super well.

  • And if you’re looking to try a natural body moisturiser, then I recommend the Skin Replenishing Balm. Creamy and rich, leaves your skin smooth, and super soft.

6. Nathalie Bond

Nathalie Bond’s journey began from her desire to live a more sustainable life with skin care products that were truly natural for her new family. Not finding many that were completely free from chemicals, she made her own.

The brand’s philosophy is to use the best possible organic ingredients, which means the natural skin care line is nontoxic, vegetarian, and free from palm oil, parabens, and genetically modified ingredients like synthetic colours.

This brand have a limited range of skincare products in comparison to others on the list, but their bath & body range, scents, and fragrances is impressive. This is a brand I choose at the weekend when I have more time and I’m looking for self-care.

My top Nathalie Bond picks:

  • The Pink Clay Face Mask made with pink French clay gently exfoliates and detoxifies.

  • The Himalayan bath salts - the ultimate in self care.

  • I’m a big fan of the Nathalie Bond lip balms, which are so nourishing.
