Business / Superdrug opens doors as national chain moves north
SUPERDRUG opened its new shop in Lerwick this morning (Friday) in what is a rare example of a national chain moving into Shetland.
A total of 13 jobs have been created in the Commercial Street store, which was formerly M&Co. Some of the former M&Co staff have been taken on, including manager Leanne Kyle.
The company said it will give customers access to the “latest health and beauty products, everyday toiletries, beauty treatments and luxury fragrances”.
It said it will also have its own ‘Beauty Studio’ area where people can pay for professional treatments such as eyebrow, lashes, piercing and nail services.
The store will also have a nurse clinic, giving customers access to health advice.
Superdrug’s property director Nigel Duxbury said: “We are delighted to share the news of a new store at Lerwick, allowing us to continue growing the presence of Superdrug in Scotland and Shetland.
“We are confident that local customers will love and welcome the new store as it offers a wide range of popular health and beauty brands, a luxury fragrance counter, a nurse clinic, and a professional Beauty Studio.”
Superdrug, which already has a shop in Kirkwall in Orkney, said the Lerwick store will be open seven days a week.
