GEVernova and Chinese equipment manufacturer Harbin Electric have received an order from China National Development and Investment Corporation to build a 1.7GW power plant in Zhejiang Province. GE Vernova's gas power generation business will provide two GE 9HA.02 gas turbines for a new combined cycle power plant in the Zhoushan Islands.
Two HA gas turbines can be quickly turned on when there is no wind or sunlight. This rapid response will support the development of renewable energy and meet the growing electricity demand of Zhoushan Power Grid.
The factory also supports decarbonization for the use of natural gas, as the carbon dioxide emissions generated by this fuel are lower than other fossil fuels. The shift from coal to Zhoushan has reduced its carbon dioxide emissions by 60%. The electricity it generates was previously generated by burning 1.35 million tons of coal annually.
Ma Jun, General Manager of Sales for China Heavy Duty Gas Turbines at GE Gas Power, expressed our appreciation for the commitment and investment of China National Investment Corporation in this project. GE is honored to provide the most advanced 9HA gas turbine to China National Investment Corporation, as part of its long-term strategic cooperation with Harbin Electric.
The design of the 9HA.02 DLN2.6e combustion system uses up to 50% hydrogen, far exceeding the factory's initial target of using up to 10% hydrogen, providing a future path for China National Investment Corporation to achieve lower carbon emission operations in the future.
Tan Peidong, General Manager of Guotou Jineng Gas Power Generation, stated that GEVernova and Harbin Electric will provide the highest standards of quality and reliability for Zhoushan Power Plant, and GE's latest and most advanced gas turbine technology will provide reliable, affordable, and low-carbon electricity for the region.
We have ordered GE's H-class technology because it can generate a large amount of electricity output in a flexible and efficient manner - which is crucial for the development of maritime clusters - while also helping to ensure the supply reliability of the 130 urbanized islands in the archipelago.Editor/XingWentao
