Creative Tuesdays – Lord, I give you my heart.
With the prompt of “heart” I immediately thought of the song, Lord I give you my heart. Find out more about my faith story.
Today is Creative Tuesdays. Our prompt was:
“Home is where the heart is” and “Love will guide you home.” So, for our next theme, I’d like you to add a drawing of a heart that is either depicted like it’s floating or in the air or perhaps on something that’s in the air. (Michael from Creative Tuesdays)
I have been taking a pencil crayon course. So I tried my watercolour pencils today for a little sketch. Not thrilled with the shading or colours but you get the idea. I’m going to try this one again. I used charcoal paper too when I should have used watercolour paper. Back to the drawing board for me.
Here is the picture with just the watercolour pencil crayons. At the bottom of the hand you can see how I started to apply the water with a brush.
Psalm 17:3 says:
Though you probe my heart,
though you examine me at night and test me,
you will find that I have planned no evil;
my mouth has not transgressed
I’m hoping that is so. Sometimes I do have to think back over my day if I am struggling to get to sleep.
Is there something I said, or did? Is there something I omitted doing?
When I “gave my heart” to Jesus, I meant it – very strongly. I meant that I would follow Him, that I would do what He said, where He led.
Since that time, I have really been challenged. I took 5 mission trips to Poland. I started a blog. I started painting. I published a children’s book. I am now podcasting once a week. I really meant it when I said I would do as He asked when I gave Him my heart.

You know, i think it’s great that you take these CT prompts and use them to really reflect on what they mean for you –a sort of prayerful meditation. If I can help to that end, great! That is one thing I adore about CT–seeing how each person interprets the same theme. We each show our own unique sides. This is something I actually funnily enough thought you might show and even thought of that song. IT captures, yes, an important moment- a turning point obviously.
Glad you are trying watercolour pencils too and obviously pushing yourself on many fronts, Janis. I find them very hard to work with so I’m wishing you all the best from here! 🙂 You know, I think this piece of yours would be wonderfully depicted as a stained glass too actually! You should try it! 🙂 Well, of course, you don’t have to do anything but I do think it would be fun nevertheless.

Thank you so much for inspiring me. You are one of the main reasons I got back into painting. Other than illustrating for my books I wasn’t doing other paintings. This keeps me thinking and inspired.
Yes I can see that as a stained glass effect but at the moment have zero time to do.

I am taking the pencil crayon course as I am trying to paint into my Bible – with limited success. I thought learning the proper method of using pencil crayons might help. I am also taking a glass to figure out how to paint glass. That is challenging.

I enjoy Michael’s prompts because I have to think for a quite a few days what that words means to me in light of God’s Word to me. I love how God answers me and gives me the inspiration to paint and to write. Last night was quite rushed but I made it. Whew.
