- Synopsis
- In the dry heat of a Yorkshire summer, two 16-year-old girls meet and become friends, despite the obvious differences in their backgrounds (Mona is local, working-class, clever and restless; Tamsin moneyed, well-educated and cynical), and the increasingly disturbing presence of Mona's older brother Phil, a born-again Fundamentalist Christian, singlemindedly intent on salvation at any cost.

- Critics' reviews
-
-
"Direction, performances and lensing blend into an immensely satisfying, if almost uncategorizable, whole."Derek Elley: Variety
-
"The film is a triumph of mood and implication. Mr. Pawlikowski (...) makes the games and poses of adolescent infatuation feel grand and unsettling"A. O. Scott: The New York Times
-
"This isn't a coming-of-age movie so much as a movie about being of an age (…) Rating: ★★★ (out of 4)"Roger Ebert: rogerebert.com
-
"But for all its melodramatic excesses, 'My Summer' remains highly watchable throughout, for its atmosphere and the actors, specially Considine and Press"Desson Thomson: The Washington Post
-
"[Pawlikowski] packs so much into 'My Summer of Love' you feel you've spent a season with these intriguing characters instead of a mere 84 minutes."Ruthe Stein: SFGATE
-
"Intimacy is a difficult thing to show on screen (...) But Nathalie Press and Emily Blunt hang out with freshness and spontaneity, helped by Pawlikowski's improvisatory shooting methods and smart dialogue"Peter Bradshaw: The Guardian
