Justin Joseph

Professor Joseph brings extensive and award-winning experience managing public relations, crisis communication and media efforts for some of the world’s most recognized brands in consumer technology, education and health care. In June 2014, the American Business Awards named him the recipient of its prestigious “Communications Professional of the Year” award.

Most recently, he served as director of global public relations for Teladoc Health, the world’s largest virtual healthcare company, specializing in health technology, telehealth, and expert medical services. Over the past 20+ years, Justin also oversaw media relations, crisis communication and investor relations efforts for global education company, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and consumer tech giants Nikon USA and Canon USA. For Canon USA, he also served as a global media spokesperson. His campaign management, thought leadership and brand efforts have resulted in thousands of positive media placements for the organizations he’s represented.

In 2023, Professor Joseph received the prestigious Becker family prize for “Teacher of the Year,” and the Lyndon B. Johnson “Faculty Advisor of the Year” award in 2017. In 2020 and 2023, he was presented with the COM Dean’s Award for Alumni Initiatives and Innovation, recognizing exceptional faculty contributions to the mission of the college. In addition to receiving both a BS and MS from Boston University, Professor Joseph earned an MA in Theology from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He has traveled extensively as a public speaker, spokesperson and lecturer.

Professor Joseph teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Crisis Communication, Media Strategies & Management, Professional Presentations, Business Essentials for Communicators, and serves as faculty co-director of the award-winning PRLab program at Boston University.
