From the Author

If I asked this question to my 20, or even 30, year old self, Iwould have answered with an affirmative "NO." Today, however, my answer is adefinite "yes." Why is this important? Because, I have learned that becomingmore intentional and deliberate with my conscious thoughts has helped me growin every area of my life.

Twenty years ago I had a thought. That thought was, "I shouldwrite a book!" At that time, I had only been out of college for a few years andI didn't know anyone who had ever written a book. The title I came up with formy book was "What are You Thinking?"

Yes, I had this book idea bouncing around in my head for manyyears. I was excited when I first had this epiphany. I thought to myself, "howcool would it be to write a book?"
Back then, I had become infatuated with some amazing motivationaland inspirational speakers. Individuals like Les Brown, Zig Zigglar, Jim Rohn, and Jack Canfield to name a few.

I listened to their speeches, over and over again until I knewevery word. Amazingly my thoughts began to change. I started to see thingsaround me differently. I began to feel differently about the world around me.
This made me curious. What else could I learn? How could I use andapply this information to create the life of my dreams? Were there otherspeakers that could teach me new ways to think?

Then I had the opportunity to go to a seminar and see a gentlemanby the name of George Zalucki. Mr. Zalucki studied motivational psychology andhuman emotions. He was, and still is, a top Network Marketer and personaldevelopment trainer. His voice commanded your attention and as he spoke to thecrowd, I sat on the edge of my seat hanging on to his every word. That day Mr.Zalucki broke down how our minds work. He simply said, "Your mind has twoparts, the Thinker and the Prover." That was the moment when I knew my missionwas to help people understand how they think.

Over the next 20 years, I made many attempts to write my bestseller. Somehow, I was never able to write more than a few uninspiringparagraphs. I was frustrated, and I couldn't understand why I was having somuch trouble writing. After years of struggling with this challenge, I mentallyburied the idea of being an author. In my mind, writing a book was a dauntingand overwhelming task.

Looking back, I am clear that I allowed life to beat the dream outof me. It wasn't until recently, that I discovered that I wasn't the person Ineeded to be, back then, to write this book. There was a lot of mental growingI needed to do.

After several years of working on me, the dream had beenuncovered. There were bumps in the road along the way, but I learned to focusmy mind on my dream. With the help of many books, seminars and mentors Ilearned how to avoid being distracted by distractions.

In January of 2017, I was introduced to online radio. A good friendof mine named Ginger "Snaps" Cornwell, called me and asked if I would beinterested in hosting an online radio show. This was not on my radar prior toher call. She was familiar with trainings I had done in the past and videos Ihad been sharing on social media.

After a brief moment of thought, I excitedly agreed to host theshow. That day "WiseWordsWithDarius" was created. Every Saturday, from 10:00am- 11:00am I was on the air live, sharing what I had learned on my journey ofworking on me.

After a few episodes, the idea of writing a book returned. It cameback with a vengeance. I couldn't stop thinking about this book. The ironicthing about it was that I had the same title idea for the book.

Now, I have hundreds of people listening to me every week. Therewere some amazing conversations had on those radio shows. But, I still couldn'twrite more than a couple paragraphs for the book.

I had an idea of how I wanted the book to read and flow. The issueI was having is that the way I envisioned the book was not how most books werewritten. This perplexed me and stopped me in my tracks. I didn't want to writesomething that I wouldn't want to read.

Then one Saturday morning, after I finished my radio show my wife,Allison, and I were talking. I shared with her that I wanted to write this bookbut wasn't having much success getting it going. She looked at me and then at astack of papers on the desk and said, "there's your book."

That stack of papers were the notes I prepared each week beforeevery show. She realized that the idea I had for the book was how I hosted myradio show every week.

Bing...the light bulb turned on. I said, "you're right, that is thebook." I had unconsciously programmed my mind over the years to believe Icouldn't write a book. What a lie! To my surprise, the book sat right before myvery eyes. I had already done it. That stack of papers became the book you holdin your hands now.

Over the years, I have read hundreds of books. Many of those booksI struggled to get through because I just felt they were too theoretical. Therewere too many irrelevant stories, the chapters were too long and most nevergave me what I considered realistic, actionable steps.

With that in mind, I present to you "
What are You Thinking? How to Become More Intentional, Deliberate andConscious with Your Thoughts." I wrote this book based on what I alwayswanted in a book. My goal was to infuse success principles with neuroscience inan easy to understand conversation. I share with you how your thoughts, conscious and unconscious, impact what you achieve in life.

The 21 chapters in this book are short and designed to be read inany order. If you have a situation that you are currently going through, andchapter 17 addresses that situation, you don't have to read the first 16chapters to get to a solution.

Each chapter ends with a section I call "What Now." These areactionable steps you can immediately began to implement into your life. Theyare based on the principle/concept that was discussed in that chapter. I haveincluded this section because I believe that it is not the hearing or readingof the information that is important, but the implementation of the informationthat makes a difference.

Mymission with this book is to help you become your best self. Becomingyour best self requires some major introspection. You may be familiar with thisprocess by the term "soul searching." To grow you will need to dig down deep, beyond the outer layer. If you do, you will find things you didn't know werethere. There may be ideas, thoughts, talents, gifts and beliefs you didn'tknow, or forgot, you had. If you participate fully, I believe you will havebreakthroughs in your life after reading this book.

So, wherever you are right now in your life, be it you are juststarting your journey, been around the block a few times or are seasoned toperfection, this book will help you begin to "think about what you thinkabout."

My wish for you is to make the rest of your life, the best of yourlife. Let's get started!

5.0 out of 5 stars So, you think you are thinking...but whose thoughts are they?
Reviewed in the United States on September 28, 2018
This is a excellent book to introduce the power of our thoughts and the misconceptions of how the brain is used. It is not complicated and not filled with psychological or scientific jargon. Written in easily understood language the author makes it possible to understand the twisted ways in which we process information based on the twisted thinking of others by which we are greatly influenced. What I liked most is that the book doesn't leave you hanging as to what or how to begin the process of correcting one's thought patterns. At the end of each chapter, there is a jewel called "What Now" to help the reader to move forward. In short the book is clear, salient and highly applicable for the every day human being who wants to know more about his brain and understand his own thinking processes.

Darius "The Professor" Wise, chapter 1 of this book stopped me dead in my tracks. I was going through a situation in my life that was making me feel some kind of way. I realized that I had gotten lazy and was NOT being real intentional, deliberate and conscious with my thoughts. Oh my, what a difference that one chapter made in helping me perceive and act on the situation with calm and confidence. Needless to say, I was hooked on "What are You Thinking"? It is a well written, easy read for folks that are committed to self growth and a better life.

So, get the book, read the book, share the book and gain valuable information about your thought processes and how they can make an impact on your life. Be a better you, for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!!!!

I bought the audio version of this book because I, like many other professionals, spend so much time in my car. I must say that it is awesome!! Darius “Professor” Wise’s book is on the level of James Allen’s classic As A Man Thinketh and several other notable authors who have written books on the subject. The difference with Wise’s book is that it is easy to understand because he uses real world, 21st century examples that everyone can relate to. He also gives concrete, actionable items after every chapter that can be implemented immediately. I have personally seen an increase in my business profits just by employing some of Wise’s strategies. If you want to change your life, you NEED to get this book ASAP!!

Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2018
I started taking notes instantly! As we turn the pages to the chapters in our lives, how years do we catalog before we make sense of it all? We know how to build a resume for a career, but many lack the skills to build a resume for life. Wise’s life lessons made powerful links to thoughts I left completely unchallenged. I’ve now embarked on a new relationship with myself! More tools in my box. Thx!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Why Did I Not Know This!?!?!
Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2018
While growing up, I was taught that if you want to be successful "you have to work really hard". The truth is, you do have to work hard, but you also have to "become more intentional, deliberate and conscious with you thoughts" if you truly want to be successful! Thanks Darius for the additional advice!
