Bought this to replace a similar style North Face jacket. 33k feet is comparable in quality but has 4 zip pocket and two large internal pouch type pockets where the North Face only had 3 zip pockets. The lining of the 33k jacket is thicker and warmer than the North Face too.
Have worn the coat through heavy rain and stayed dry and warm and the hood is more practical than the previous coat.
I bought XL as other reviews had mentioned size discrepancies but with 42" - 44" chest I maybe should have gone for L

Disappointed in that it is NOT WATER PROOF for anything more than a light shower or altitude mist even though water does bead and run off. I went out with the dog for a hill walk in the cold and all was well until the clouds came down as hill mist and then it proved to not be water proof. Also even with a single layer light shirt this top gets very warm when hill walking to being uncomfortable. It is wind proof. It's just good in that very narrow temperature window but I would not recommend it for anything other than being under cover in a football stand on a cold breezy day. It's not suitable for gardening as it will hitch and get sweaty and hot with mild exertion. It's probably good for very cold weather under a breathable waterproof shell. Shame really. I would not however contemplate relying upon it up a 33,000 ft mountain. Make a good top for a works van on cold morning until the heater starts working..
