Research Biography
- Prior to doing postgraduate study in law and criminology, I spent nearly three years in legal practice in Adelaide and country South Australia. I did my further study at the London School of Economics and the University of Toronto. I have held teaching positions at universities in the UK and Australia. Between 2009 and 2012, I had the position of Executive Director, Centre for Transnational Crime Prevention, University of Wollongong. In 2012, I was appointed Strategic Professor in criminology at Flinders University, and in the following year established the Centre for Crime Policy and Research. I have held visiting positions at the University of Toronto, University of Cambridge, University of Los Andes (Colombia), Leeds University, and the Australian National University. I currently co-edit the ANZ Journal of Criminology, and undertake research in the areas of organised crime, policing, cybercrime and corruption. In 2016 I was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia and appointed a Matthew Flinders Distinguished professor by Flinders University.
