Minister with responsibility for Information, Robert Morgan, says the proposed reform of Jamaica’s constitution is not contemplating any amendment to the laws concerning buggery and abortion.
Minister Morgan was responding to Nationwide News at today’s Post Cabinet press briefing on the call from prominent members of the clergy for the removal of Canadian Professor Richard Albert from the Constitutional Reform Committee.
The grievance around Professor Albert’s inclusion on the committee concerns his pro-abortion and pro-LGBTQ-plus stance.
Minister Morgan says no one person will be able to impose their will on the reform committee.

Meanwhile, President of the Jamaica Evangelical Alliance, Bishop Doctor Alvin Bailey, has joined other church groups in condemning the appointment of Professor Richard Albert to Jamaica’s Constitutional Reform Committee.
Bishop Bailey, who was speaking on Nationwide This Morning, says at best, Professor Albert could be hired as a consultant to the committee.
And, former Acting Public Defender, Matundo Mukulu, says there’s no basis for the antagonism towards Professor Albert’s inclusion on the Constitutional Reform Committee.
Mr. Mukulu says while Jamaica does have constitutional scholars, Professor Albert comes with a unique perspective.
