I have been waiting for Sunday all week.

A day off to fellowship, worship, learn and nap in the afternoon light is right around the corner.

Rest, a touch of love from God as He tends to our needs.

What happens when we don’t find that fellowship following us out those double doors or the lifted hands in unified music singing us through our week? What if the lesson learned sticking to the walls of our brains melts off in the pre-dawn hours of a Monday and our naps only turn us into grouchy dinner makers who scoff at the family meal prepared by reluctant hands?

That touch of love we so longed for seems almost worthless when we don’t see it for what it is.

Jeremiah 31:25聽ESV聽

For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.

He is replenishing us, giving us rest from the weariness that comes from life.

Most Christians these days don’t look for Sabbath. They look at another day to work, to get things done, to lounge around, or to yell at sports figures. A break is simply never just taken and relished in, instead we keep filling and filling until that one day that we get that nap, we meltdown and it just depletes us more.

How to we grab on to this gift and really be intentional? There is no simple answer other than to just give in to the Lord’s command. Don’t stop living, but think about how we’re living. Are we taking time to really be in that fellowship, worship, and time of rest? Are we replenishing our souls the way we replenish our morning cups of coffee?

Hebrews 4:9-11聽

So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works as God did from his. Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience.

Are we taking time to really be in that fellowship, worship, and time of rest? Are we replenishing our souls the way we replenish our morning cups of coffee? Share on X

Enter into His rest. Really enter in. Embrace this loving gift, dedicate it to Him and be in the moment. He gave it to you, a gift from the Lord. It would be hard to not accept something from our Creator if we have intentional perspective.
